Erica Blaire Roby

Roby is more than just a cook, as evidenced by her recent appearance on Blue Smoke Grill on Food Network. She worked with some of the top chefs in the country and received a grant from Preserve the Pit for $7,500. As she faced off against some of America's best chefs, her barbecue skills were put to the ultimate test. Roby endured the pain despite a cut finger.

Roby graduated in psychology and worked as a psychologist as well as as a criminal defense counsel. Before competing on Food Network she spent time as a sommelier pairing wines with food. This job allowed her to reclaim her passion for cooking. Roby's father owned a barbecue joint, so her love for the grill came naturally.

Roby took up cooking barbecue after her first child, despite her legal career. Her father's dream of her opening a barbecue restaurant inspired her, so she decided to take up the challenge. Roby attended a celebrity chef Harry Soo's barbecue cooking class in 2018. As a result, she became a certified pitmaster and was soon working in a barbecue restaurant.


She began her passion for barbecue as a hobby, and eventually she became obsessed with it. Initially, she prepared dishes on her back patio. She then went on to compete at barbecue competitions all across the country, where she cooked alongside some of the most renowned pit masters in America. Since then she has started a series pop-ups throughout Dayton, Ohio. She hopes to eventually open her own food truck.

Team Brawl vs. Team Brawl and Team Anne

Food Network BBQ Team Brawl will host its third season. Two of the top chefs in the country will compete to win the ultimate grilling title. Anne Burrell (and Jet Tila) will battle Bobby Flay (and Team Anne) in a dinner-party brawl. Matt Roth, a favorite of "BBQ Brawl", returns to the Austin-based Smokin Beauty along with his wife Thao.

Ann instructed the contestants on what to prepare, while Jet and Team Bobby let them pick what to make. The result was that Team Bobby lost his ceviche, and Jet dropped some meat. Team Anne now has a significant advantage. Anne even leapt down on Team Bobby's throat while he was reaching to get an ingredient.

As with all Food Network competitions, the new season of BBQ Team Brawl features some familiar faces. Lee Ann Whippen has been competing in barbecuing over 23 years and will serve as Team Anne's judge. She is also the managing member of Deviled Pig Tampa and a judge in the Kansas City Barbecue Society. She has won several state and national barbecue championships.


Flay and Symon were also in a battle for the best barbecue sandwich. This time, Lee Ann took a more traditional approach to the sandwich, while Susie went for an exotic twist. The judges found it too thick, but her pork belly banh mi was a bold experiment in flavor. The Team Anne burger was delicious, juicy, and well-baked.
